Stake Lake Paddle and Hike
An early morning kayak outing on Stake Lake, followed by a hike on the trails.
Pinantan Lake
An early morning paddle around Pinantan Lake. Lots of blackbirds, marsh wrens, and swallows. Appearances by osprey, loons, and schools of fish. Great conditions. 
Bleeker Lake
A breezy morning paddle on Bleeker Lake (near Roche Lake).

Paska Lake
On a day of rain showers, cloudy, and some sunny periods, I drove through the rain to find Paska Lake and kayaked around the lake, including a marshy back channel. Another fine paddle – Day 27 for 2026.
Edith Lake in the Rain
A full day of rain, but I paddled Edith Lake in the morning, wearing raingear. Swallows were active, swooping all over the lake after a hatch.
Paul Lake
A morning paddle on Paul Lake. A quiet spot. Day 24 of paddling for 2026…
Copper Island
We paddled from Scotch Creek (Shuswap Lake Provincial Park to Copper Island, landed on the east side, then hiked the 2 km loop trail around the island, and then paddled back. Always a great adventure.

A morning paddle on McConnell Lake on a fine day. 
Lac du Bois
A morning paddle on Lac du Bois. I hauled the boat down to the marshy shoreline and paddled the shoreline (3.1 km). Lots of ducks, western painted turtles, yellow-headed blackbirds, marsh wrens, and invertebrates in the muddy waters. 
Stake Lake Double
On a sunny morning I kayaked around Stake Lake (just once) and then hiked trails for an hour. A favorite combo.
McConnell Lake
Two laps around the lake in a kayak on a fine spring morning. 
Walloper Lake
A kayak on Walloper Lake in the morning. Once around the lake. A great blue heron on the shoreline and a snowshoe hare on the shoreline. 
Pass Lake
I kayaked on Pass Lake on a mild, end-of-April morning. Twice around the lake. Blackbirds, marsh wrens, loons, an ducks active.
Kamloops Lake
An early paddle on Kamloops Lake from the boat launch in Savona. Cool with a steady breeze to start but warmer with a light breeze to finish. The only boat on the lake this morning. Day 16 kayaking in 2026.

Heffley Lake
A paddle on the east end of Heffley Lake on a mild and calm morning. Another perfect outing.
Edith Lake
A morning kayak outing around Edith Lake in fine conditions.

A windy morning paddle on Inks Lakes with loops around the lake amongst many ducks and other birds. Day 12 for 2026.
