I drove a new-to-me road to the north end of Red Lake, arriving at the Red Lake Rec Site.    I first paddled a loop route on the lake, landing at a small island (to place a cache).     I followed up with looking for some geocaches, but it was hit-and-miss, finding some, giving up on others.    I resolved to make a list for the future when I was going to a location with no cell coverage – relevant info, hints, review any recent logs, etc. to avoid bumbling.    Thanks to the cache owners, though.   

It is a long drive on backroads, but the paddle made the trip worthwhile.    I placed a geocache on a tiny island in the lake (hidden at the base of a tree on the east side):
